42-inch magnavox HDTV bulb?

i have a 42-inch magnavox flat screen television. it's a flat screen. i think it's LCD but i'm not sure. i bought it about five years ago and i don't have the manual. anyway, it just went blank. no sound, no picture, and the power button on the front only blinks. my question is, what could be wrong, can i just replace a bulb if it uses one)? it certainly isn't a projection television, so i have no clue what could be wrong with it. any ideas? thanks.
